Damien Devos participated in a project to unravel the genetic information of Euglena gracilis together with Joel B. Dacks, Steven Kelly and Mark C. Field.
This unicellular eukaryote is a popular model organism with prospective use in biotechnology. The restricted amount of information about E. gracilis genetics has limited the use of this organism in basic and translational research!
This work focused in the characterization of the transcriptome, proteome and to built a draft of this photosynthetic organism genome.

This work was published in BMC biology and it is now a resource for further studies with this organism. Check the full paper on this link: https://bmcbiol.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/s12915-019-0626-8
